A Steam name emoji set decorates your persona name or a group/clan tag with emoji or symbols, like ⚡ Mia ⚡ or 🛡 Admin. Valve’s persona-name field takes most emoji and Unicode symbols, so these sets paste straight into Steam’s profile settings.
Steam separates your permanent account name (set once at signup, rarely shown) from your persona name (Settings → Profile → Edit Profile → Display Name), which is the name everyone actually sees in friends lists, chat, and game lobbies and is the one these sets are for.
Classic Unicode symbols like ♠ ♣ ★ sit in the Basic Multilingual Plane and count as 1 UTF-16 unit each; most color emoji need a surrogate pair, 2 UTF-16 units. The badge under every set below shows both counts — characters, then UTF-16 units. Below you’ll find 9 groups across four kinds: nickname sets, symbol frames, kaomoji, emoji-only strings.
Every set below is plain Unicode (emoji and symbol blocks), checked against unicode.org’s published charts in October 2026 — see our about page and editorial policy for how we build and check these pages.

Questions people ask
Does Steam limit how many emoji I can use in my persona name?
We have not found an official published character limit for the persona name field; the 32-character figure in the table above is a widely observed value, not a documented one, so treat it as a starting point and check in your own account.
Can I change my Steam account name, not just my persona name?
No, not freely. Your account (login) name is set at signup and is not the name shown to other players; the persona name is the one you can change any time in Profile settings, and it takes emoji and symbols.
Why does my emoji show as a box for another player?
Their device’s font doesn’t include that character yet. Classic symbols (★ ♠ ❤) render almost everywhere; newer color emoji can lag on older systems — see our homepage compatibility table.
