This page describes what NickEmoji (nickemoji.com) actually collects — not a generic template. We update it the same day anything changes — see about for how the site itself is run.
The name combiner and copy buttons
The mood maker, the symbol grid, and every “copy” button run entirely in your browser. The name or text you type is never sent to our server and is not stored anywhere — it disappears when you close or reload the page.
Helpful / needs improvement votes
Each page has a small poll asking whether it was useful. When you vote, we record your IP address as a one-way hash, only to stop the same visitor voting on the same item more than once in a day; we don’t store the IP address itself, and the hash isn’t linked to any other data about you. If you add an optional note with your vote, we store the note text, the page it was left on, and the time, for up to the most recent 300 notes site-wide, so an editor can read it and improve the page. Notes aren’t published automatically.
Comments
If comments are open on a page and you leave one, we collect what you type in the comment form, plus your IP address and browser user-agent string, which WordPress uses to help catch spam. If you enter an email address, an anonymized hash of it may be sent to Gravatar to check for a matching profile photo — see Gravatar’s own privacy policy at automattic.com/privacy. Comments are held for moderation before they appear.
Server logs
Like most websites, our hosting records basic technical logs (IP address, page requested, time, browser user-agent) for security and troubleshooting. We don’t currently run analytics or advertising; if that changes, this page will be updated the same day and will say exactly what was added.
Cookies
We don’t set tracking or advertising cookies. If you leave a comment and choose to save your name, email, and website in a cookie for next time, that cookie lasts one year. WordPress’s own login and security cookies apply only to site administrators.
Your rights
If you’ve left a comment or a note, you can email [email protected] to ask what we hold about you or to request it be deleted. We don’t require an account to use NickEmoji, so most visitors have nothing stored beyond the anonymous vote hash described above.
Children’s privacy
NickEmoji doesn’t knowingly collect personal information from children, and the tool doesn’t ask for a name, age, or any identifying detail to work.
Changes to this policy
We’ll update the date below whenever something on this page actually changes — not on a fixed schedule.
Questions people ask
Does the name combiner send what I type to your server?
No. It runs entirely in your browser and nothing is sent or stored — not even temporarily.
Do you run ads or analytics?
Not currently. If that changes, this page is updated the same day and will say exactly what was added.
What happens to the note I leave with a helpful/not-helpful vote?
We store the text, the page, and the time, for up to the most recent 300 notes site-wide, so an editor can read it — it isn’t published automatically and isn’t linked to your name or email.
