An X (Twitter) name emoji set decorates your display name — the name shown above your @handle — with emoji or Unicode symbols, like 💀 Alex 💀. Unlike Instagram or TikTok, X calls this field simply “Name,” and it sits separate from your locked @handle.
Your X @handle (the part after the @) only accepts letters, numbers and underscores — no emoji, same limitation Instagram and TikTok put on their own @usernames. Your Name field, shown above every post, is where emoji and Unicode symbols actually render; edit it under Settings → Your Account → Edit profile.
Classic Unicode symbols like ꧁ ☬ ♡ ★ sit in the Basic Multilingual Plane and count as 1 UTF-16 unit each; most color emoji need a surrogate pair, 2 UTF-16 units. The badge under every set below shows both counts — characters, then UTF-16 units — because some older name fields count length in units, not visible characters. Below you’ll find 10 groups across four kinds: nickname sets, symbol frames, kaomoji, emoji-only strings.
Every set below is plain Unicode (emoji and symbol blocks), checked against unicode.org’s published charts in October 2026 — see our about page and editorial policy for how we build and check these pages.

Questions people ask
Does X have a character limit on display names?
Yes, 50 characters, counted the same way our length badge counts — color emoji use 2 of those 50, plain Unicode symbols use 1, so symbol-heavy sets leave more room.
Will an emoji display name affect my searchability?
X search matches your @handle and display name text; most readers search by handle, so an emoji-decorated display name rarely affects discovery either way.
Can I use the same name emojis on both X and Instagram?
Usually yes — most sets below are plain Unicode and show the same way across apps, aside from small font-rendering differences between Apple, Google and Samsung emoji art.
