A WhatsApp name emoji set is a display name or contact label decorated with emoji, like 🌸 Mia 🌸 or Mom 🌷. WhatsApp’s profile name field accepts emoji and Unicode symbols freely — unlike a locked @username on other apps, so almost any set below pastes in cleanly.
WhatsApp skips a public @username entirely — your profile name (Settings → Profile) is the single name field everyone sees in chats, groups and calls, and it takes emoji and Unicode symbols with no restriction, so every set below pastes in directly.
Classic Unicode symbols like ꧁ ☬ ♡ ★ sit in the Basic Multilingual Plane and count as 1 UTF-16 unit each; most color emoji need a surrogate pair, 2 UTF-16 units. The badge under every set below shows both counts — characters, then UTF-16 units — because some older name fields count length in units, not visible characters. Below you’ll find 10 groups across four kinds: nickname sets, symbol frames, kaomoji, emoji-only strings.
Every set below is plain Unicode (emoji and symbol blocks), checked against unicode.org’s published charts in October 2026 — see our about page and editorial policy for how we build and check these pages.

Questions people ask
Does WhatsApp limit how many emoji I can use in my name?
WhatsApp caps the profile name at 25 characters total, counted the same way our length badge counts them — emoji usually cost 2 of those 25, BMP symbols like ꧁ ☬ cost 1.
Can I use emoji in a saved contact's name, not just my own?
Yes — contact names are stored by your phone’s address book app, not WhatsApp itself, so the family/contact-label sets above work for any phone contact, not only your own WhatsApp profile.
Why does my emoji show as a box for the other person?
Their phone’s font doesn’t include that character yet. Classic symbols (꧁ ☬ ♛) render almost everywhere; newer color emoji can lag on older Android/iOS versions — see our homepage compatibility table.
